John Coleman

Hey, I’m John! I’m a Multimedia Production Specialist and graduating student at DMACC, where I’ve spent the past few years building a solid foundation in all areas of media production. My time here has given me hands-on experience in camera operation, editing, motion graphics, compositing, script writing, set construction, and equipment management. I’ve had the privilege not only to learn from a diverse group of industry professionals, but also to work alongside them as a student employee in the role of DMACC’s video equipment manager. That role has given me a valuable head start—allowing me to both grow my own knowledge and support fellow students by recommending equipment and offering guidance on their projects.

This showcase represents the variety of creative and technical challenges I’ve taken on during my time at DMACC. I’m also excited to return to Iowa PBS this summer as a video production intern, a role I previously held during the fall semester of 2024. As I wrap up my associate degree, I’m preparing to continue my education at BYU, where I’ll pursue a bachelor’s degree in media-related studies. I’m passionate about visual storytelling and thrive in collaborative environments where creativity and problem-solving come together. Portfolio Day is a chance for me to share the work I’ve created in college and connect with others who are just as enthusiastic about this industry as I am.
