Emily Hockett

Hi! I’m Emily, a graphic designer from Iowa. I’m currently finishing my AAS in Graphic Design at Des Moines Area Community College, with plans to graduate in May 2025. I’ve also been accepted into Grand View University, where I’ll continue my education to earn a bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design with a minor in Marketing! Right now, I’m interning with the Des Moines Arts Festival, creating banners and signage for their 2025 summer event—an especially exciting opportunity since I’ve grown up attending the festival every year. I’m passionate about creating work that tells a story—whether it’s through branding, illustration, or hands-on designs like interactive invitations. Outside of design, I spend a lot of time writing fiction and poetry, and that love for storytelling seems to always find a way into my design work.

As my internship wraps up in August, I’m currently looking for a part-time graphic design position where I can continue building my skills, contribute creatively, and be part of a team that values thoughtful, engaging design!
