Hi, I’m Devin — a graduating student from the Animation and Rich Media Program at DMACC
I am an aspiring 3D Environmental Artist, who specializes in 3D animation and asset creation, but I also love 2D animation. For as long as I can remember, drawing has been my favorite form of self-expression, and with age, I split off into other mediums. I started getting into animation around the age of 12, experimenting with pixel art in GameMaker Studio’s built-in sprite editor. I was very ambitious and wanted to make my own video game. I was inspired by other indie games at the time like Hyper Light Drifter and Hollow Knight which both had beautiful art direction and animation. When I was 16, I discovered Blender and fell in love with 3D art, especially the creation of scenery and environments. From there I decided that I would want to become an Environmental Artist for both movies and video games.
The past two years at DMACC have been incredible. I’ve gained both technical and soft skills that have made the creative process feel more natural and rewarding. I’ve also had access to professional software that would’ve otherwise been way out of my budget. After graduation, I plan to take on freelance projects to continue building my portfolio and connecting with others in the industry.
